Considerate Constructors Scheme
LINTHORPE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Phasing of the works was key to the scheme’s success. At the commencement of the scheme, we carried out a full re-phasing exercise in conjunction with the school and the design team to ensure that the optimum phasing solution was adopted to guarantee teaching levels were maintained at all times.”
The scheme was competitively tendered to provide major refurbishment and alterations to much of the school, with extensive external landscaping. A new extension to the school and separate new building to the rear of the school was also included in the works.
This scheme was carried out within fully live and operational educational environment and was successfully completed on time and within budget.
In April 2016 Linthorpe School was awarded a Gold Considerate Constructors Award and also received a national award of ‘Most Considerate Site Award 2016’ in the £500,000 to £5,000,000 category. With the CCS scheme noting that
“A hallmark of this award-winning project was its rapport with and support of the school, including educating the children about construction, engaging and inspiring a pupil with special needs and providing local job opportunities.”
