Lord Mayor’s Award

Lord Mayor’s Award

8th Mar 2024

Walter Thompson are proud to announce that our recently completed project, 12a Adderstone Crescent in Jesmond, Newcastle has been awarded with the 2023 Lord Mayor’s Award from Newcastle City Council in the New Building (small scale) category.

The beautiful, sustainable private residence makes use of glass, wood and clean modern lines, to effortlessly blend the property into the peaceful courtyard garden it encompasses. Scandinavian style furnishings, solid wood floors and high ceilings give the new home an almost rustic and calming feel.

We worked closely with the architects from the design stage to ensure this project was delivered with sustainability at the forefront.

The Lord Mayor’s Design Awards have been running since 1994 with a ceremony being held every two years.  The awards aim to encourage, promote and publicise the very best in architecture and environmental design and to improve the built environment. Awards are given to outstanding projects in the fields of architecture, planning, environmental, urban and landscape design.

The Lord Mayor’s Design Awards shine a light on new buildings and developments that make an outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of their communities.

The eight winners and the runners-up were recognised at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Mansion House in Jesmond in March.

Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Cllr Veronica Dunn, said: “I would like to say a big congratulations to all the winners and commended finalists.

“It was inspiring to see such a wide range of projects being recognised for their creative and innovative designs and for the positive contributions they have made in our communities.

“The judges were extremely impressed with the high calibre of entries and the talented teams behind these projects should be very proud of their achievements.”
