Barnsley Care Home Completion
02/02/2026
We are proud to showcase the successful completion of this landmark care home project, delivered on time and to an exceptional standard.
Formerly an unused car park, the site has been transformed into a modern, purpose-built care facility designed to enhance comfort, wellbeing, and sustainability.
The three-storey building provides 33 spacious bedrooms, each with its own private ensuite, ensuring dignity and independence for every resident. Each floor has been thoughtfully designed to support both social interaction and quiet relaxation, featuring a lounge, dining room, quiet lounge, and an assisted bathroom. These spaces create a warm, homely environment while allowing for flexible use by residents, visitors, and care staff.
Sustainability was a core focus throughout the build. The home benefits from a combination of solar panels and an air source heat pump, significantly reducing energy consumption and helping to lower its overall carbon footprint.
The project was delivered over a 67-week programme and completed on schedule, reflecting strong project management, close collaboration with stakeholders, and a commitment to quality at every stage.
A standout feature of this development is the installation of circadian lighting throughout the home – the first of its kind in a UK care home setting. This innovative system is designed to support residents’ natural sleep-wake cycles, improving comfort, mood, and overall wellbeing.
The building was also designed in close partnership with the University of Stirling, achieving a Gold rating for its design quality and suitability for care environments. This recognition highlights the project’s focus on evidence-based design, accessibility, and long-term usability.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, modern construction methods, and sustainable technologies can come together to create facilities that truly support residents and staff.
