FT Group Raises £10K+ for Charity

Is there anything better than helping a charity, especially when it’s one that helps try to beat a terrible disease like prostate cancer?

The stats from this awful illness are shocking to read:

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
More than 47,500 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that’s 129 men every day. Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that’s more than 11,500 men every year. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Last year The FT Group held various Toolbox Talks with John Dodds & Robin Millman from Prostate Cancer UK who visited each of our offices and sites to help create a wider awareness to our employees, site teams and subcontractors.

Following these visits the FT staff requested Prostate Cancer UK as our chosen Charity for 2018 & 2019. During this time we have all pulled together to complete crazy challenges, arduous adventures and raffles to name a few in order to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.

The fundraising kicked off with an Easter Raffle with some lovely chocolate goodies but quickly ramped up with a 140 mile (12,000ft of climbing) Coast to Coast bike ride. Later on in the fundraising campaign came the adrenaline junkies dream of sponsored sky dives but we calmed them back down to earth with sponsored cake sales!

Overall the FT Group has managed to raise a whopping £10,257 for Prostate Cancer and more importantly hopefully raised more awareness of this terrible illness.
