Newcastle Courtyard House Wins North East RIBA Award
12/06/2026
We’re proud to announce that our Newcastle Courtyard House has been awarded a North East RIBA Award – a fantastic recognition of the skill, dedication, and collaboration that went into delivering this exceptional project.
Our team joined architects, contractors, and industry peers at the North East RIBA Awards ceremony, held in the stunning Garden Room at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle. It was a wonderful evening celebrating design excellence across the region and we’re thrilled that the Newcastle Courtyard House was among the winning projects.
The Newcastle Courtyard House is a contemporary residential project that showcases what’s possible when thoughtful design meets a genuine commitment to sustainability and performance.
Designed by Miltiadou Cook Mitzman Architects and delivered by Musson Brown Architects, the project combines striking architectural design with outstanding energy performance credentials. Key features include:
• Cross-laminated timber (CLT) frame structure – providing a robust, sustainable structural solution with excellent thermal properties
• Triple glazing – minimising heat loss while maximising natural light
• Sedum roof – supporting biodiversity and improving insulation
• Photovoltaic panels – generating on-site renewable energy
• Ground source heat pump – delivering highly efficient, low-carbon heating
Together, these elements create a home that is not only beautiful to live in, but also built to perform reducing energy consumption and environmental impact for years to come.
Congratulations to Miltiadou Cook Mitzman Architects, Musson Brown Architects Ltd, and Walter Thompson (Contractors) Ltd on this well-deserved recognition.
