Botanist and former TV presenter Dr David Bellamy OBE has officially opened the £6m luxury care home recently completed by Walter Thompson.

Dr Bellamy and his wife Rosemary opened the Oulton Manor care home in Leeds, which was completed on time and within budget.

Oulton Manor provides residential, dementia and respite care and is the latest home to be opened by Hadrian Healthcare Group.

Paul Hammerton, Managing Director of Walter Thompson, said Hadrian Healthcare was an important client, and completing work in Leeds and other areas of West and East Yorkshire was part of a strategic expansion plan: “Our reputation for excellence is growing within the construction sector and with that comes opportunities in areas we’ve not previously worked in.

“We’ve recently completed projects in Northumberland, Tyneside and Wearside, but we’re also working on sites south of our North Yorkshire base.

“Oulton Manor is Hadrian Healthcare’s latest addition to its Manor House branded care homes and offers a particular standard of luxury accommodation and care for elderly clients. We’re proud of the job we’ve done, and we’re sure users of Oulton Manor will appreciate the work and care that have gone into its construction.

“It’s the ninth care home we’ve completed for Hadrian Healthcare, with whom we’ve worked since 2003. We’re currently working with them on another home in Harrogate.”

Oulton Manor offers purpose-built luxurious accommodation for elderly clients who have a variety of needs. This includes – ‘Chesters’ which is Hadrian’s specially designed accommodation for those clients who have specific needs arising from living with dementia.  Respite care is also available for those who simply wish to re-charge their batteries and enjoy the comfort and services of Manor House living before returning to their own homes.

Ian Watson, owner and chairman of Hadrian Healthcare Group said: “We are strong believers in working in partnership. Our design and construction teams have once again pulled out all the stops to give us something very stylish and very comfortable, which has the feeling of warmth that makes the Manor House homes stand out. It’s very important to us that our residents feel completely at home.”

Oulton Manor is designed to reflect a community within a community with residents’ bar and restaurants, a hair and beauty salon, library and shop. All accommodation is arranged in small living groups creating a homely environment. There are landscaped gardens and on site car parking.

The interior is light, bright and spacious. Furnishings are luxurious and comfortable with carefully chosen colours, textures and accessories.

Hadrian Healthcare Group was established in 1995 and is a family owned business with head office in Gateshead. The company is renowned for the provision of exceptionally high standards of accommodation and care and holds the Investors in People Silver award.

The opening of Oulton Manor follows the recent opening of the Manor House in Knaresborough in November last year, bringing the Hadrian portfolio of Manor Houses to six.

Work is set to commence in the next few weeks on the latest Hadrian Manor House project, which is on Cornwall Road in Harrogate.  The 85 bed Manor House in Harrogate gained planning approval this month and the £11million development project is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2017.
