Walter Thompson take our responsibility towards the environment very seriously. We have developed policies, systems and procedures that promote sustainable construction methods that have a minimal impact on the environment.

Our environmental management policies are ISO 14001:2015 certified. They also adhere to the strict standards set by BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) which encourage best environmental practice across every aspect of a project such as:

Our staff take additional care and go the extra mile to ensure that the relationship between stakeholders and the construction team is a close collaboration.

We are extremely aware of the impact our construction activities have on our local communities. By actively raising our operating standards, reducing disruption and minimising environmental damage, we are ensuring this impact is a positive one.

We are continually striving to significantly raise our operating standards to lessen the impact of our construction activities on the local community. We are Partner members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and have been national award winners for each of the past 13 years evidencing our performance under the Code of Considerate Practice.

In 2016 our site at Linthorpe Primary school was awarded the prestigeous “National Most Considerate Site” in the £500k to £5million category. This has taken our awards total to 23.

Each individual site is independently inspected to measure compliance within the criteria of site appearance, respect for the community, protecting the environment, securing everyone’s safety and care for the workforce.

We regularly visit local schools and colleges to raise awareness of the dangers of construction sites and involve the school children in interactive activities.
