This scheme was the renovation and conversion of a five storey 1980’s office building in the centre of Middlesbrough to provide student accommodation.

The project was secured after being competitively tendered and involved internal demolition, removal and replacement of walls, floors and ceiling finishes creating 60 one bed student apartments.  The building also required full electrical and mechanical works, new roofing, windows, external doors and full recladding.

The show flat was finished in March, with the remainder of St James House completed in June, ready for enquiries from Teesside University students.

“This is a terrific site by any standards.  This monitor feels unable to offer any suggestions at all to improve it!  In addition, the site is a happy site & I found the aims and objectives of the ccs are being met everywhere in abundance.” Site monitor
