Selby School Completion

Walter Thompson recently completed work at Selby Community Primary School on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council. The project started in August 2018 with a 30 week programme and handed over in March.

The existing School has been in full operational during the construction period so Health & Safety was paramount to the project being a success. Regular Considerate Constructors Scheme visits were undertaken with an average score of 40/50. Massive congratulations for the great work by our Construction Team; Ian Saye (Site Manager), Jonathan White (Contracts Manager), Steve Lee (Senior QS) and George McNaught (Trainee QS).

The building, which sits just off the existing School, is split into two large classrooms that can be divided into four classrooms with folding screens. Each of the classrooms has its own toilet cubicles, storage rooms and reception areas for the different age’s children that will soon be using the new facilities.

The classrooms have been built on a flood plain therefore flood defence walls have had to be constructed running around the full perimeter of the new build with three separate flood gates.

The new facilities will be used by Nursery and Reception School children after the Easter holidays, we hope they enjoy their new building.
